A painter and graphic artist of landscapes, seascapes, portraits and still lifes. Works in pastel, oil, watercolour, ink, pencil, charcoal and in various graphic media, particularly monotypes.

Profile: 1947 – 60 lived in Pretoria; from 1960 in Cape Town. Has travelled extensively throughout SA. Father of James Madge.
Exhibitions: He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in SA and one in Australia; 1947 Kimberley, first of 24 solo exhibitions held in SA and one touring England and Wales; 1959 Durban Art Gallery, joint exhibition with Errol Boyley and W H Coetzer; 1968 Durban Art Gallery, solo exhibition.
