Jaco van Schalkwyk was born in 1981 in Benoni , South Africa.
Jaco loves nature and animals and he started to explore the different facets of wildlife at an early age. This early education inspired Jaco for many years and formed the basis of his art career today. Throughout the years he was able to experience wildlife intimately. Jaco also went to word on a dairy farm for 2 years, where he handled the animals daily. In those 2 years he learned a lot about animal behaviour and it had a direct influence on his work.
He is currently studying History of Art at the University of South Africa .
Jaco has taken part in a few selected group exhibitions in South Africa and in the United States of America (the South-eastern Wildlife Expo).
