A painter and a graphic artist of landscapes, seascapes and still Life. Works in oil, watercolour , ink, pencil, charcoal and in various graphic media. He is best known for his “Wet Street Scenes of the Cape (Paarl).

A painter and a graphic artist of landscapes, seascapes and still Life. Works in oil, watercolour , ink, pencil, charcoal and in various graphic media. He is best known for his “Wet Street Scenes of the Cape (Paarl).

Studies: 1941 Cape Town Teachers Training College, where gained a Higher Primary Teachers Certificate; 1950-52 Camberwell School of Art , London.

Profile: A member of the SAAA and founder member of the Artists Guild in 1979. 1946-78 a senior itinerant art teacher at four high schools in Paarl, Cape Province.

1950-52 travelled throughout Europe studying art.

Exhibitions: 1944 Cape Town, first of 50 solo exhibitions in SA; he has participated in over 100 group exhibitions from 1946 held in SA, Mozambique and in the Netherlands; 1956 and 1960 Quadrennial Exhibitions; 1981 Republic Festival Exhibition.

Represented: Hester Rupert Art Museum, Graaff-Reinet; National Museum, Bloemfontein,; Pretoria Art Museum; Rand Afrikaans University; SA Cultural History Museum, Cape Town; SA National Gallery, Cape Town; University of Stellenbosch; Willem Annandale Art Gallery, Lichtenburg.
